Orillia Waterfront Centre
A community pavilion on the shores of Lake Couchiching in Orillia, Ontario. The building serves both resident boaters and the broader public, housing administration offices, washrooms and showers, and a large community lounge used for weddings, meetings, and events. The principal room overlooks the marina and can be divided into two spaces using large CLT pivot doors patterned after naval flags. The structure is CLT and glulam, erected in a single day. The engineered wood serves as both structure and interior finish, reducing construction time while giving the public-facing spaces a warm, continuous material character. A lightbox sits atop the lounge, visible from the waterfront.
